Thank you for your interest in helping us craft for our Charleston Area NICUs! Here is what we need...
1) For our photography Sessions we love to dress the kiddos up and provide a little gift. If you are able to crochet hats, blankets, or even halloween costumes, we need your help! Babies' heads range in size from approximately 26cm - 38cm.
2) Bonding Hearts! Did you know by the sixth week of pregnancy, a baby’s sense of smell has begun to develop. And within six to nine months of pregnancy, studies have shown that babies can detect and memorize certain scents while in the womb, including the scent of a mother!
In the NICU, Bonding Hearts help strengthen a mother-and-baby’s bond through their unique scents. They have been proven to increase lactation for mom AND increase O2 levels for baby, among other benefits! This is by far one of our largest initiatives. MUSC Shawn Jenkins admits nearly 1,000 babies to their NICU each year (and that's just one hospital). We would love to be able to provide every single NICU family a Bonding Heart in the Charleston Tri-County Area.
Simply download the specification documents below and let us know when you are ready for us to pick them up! Or, you can always join us at an event and help distribute. We appreciate your help!
**Please keep in mind there is a strict no fleece policy in the NICU. We can only accept cotton flannel fabric donations!!!
