In their own words: “[This organization] exists to provide support and resources to women and their families struggling with maternal mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, and psychosis during and after pregnancy.” We highly recommend this group for postpartum mental health resources.
Also known as WIC, this government run organization can help with resources to feed your medically complex child. They can provide vouchers for specific formulas and foods your little one may need. Also, they do have a program that offers Hospital Grade Breast Pumps to mothers after discharge from a NICU. PRO TIP: If you are at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, ask about the WIC Van that comes weekly. You can make an appointment to speak with a representative right on site and get registered!
The Ronald McDonald House offers lodging to families with children in the hospital. They ask for a $35 donation per night but it is also a good idea to check your insurance! Some insurances will reimburse these costs, including some Medicaid plans.
This site connects families with South Carolina’s public services for young children. It’s a one stop shop for many government resources!
